Fran Quintana

Fran is a Legal Assistant at the Law Offices of Jonathan Dunten. Fran joined the firm in June of 2016.

Fran was born and raised with his twin brother in Villa El Salvador, Lima, Perú. They migrated to the United States at the age of 9.

Fran is a first-generation graduate from California State University, East Bay (CSUEB) with a degree in Political Science, Pre-Law. He served as Director of Legislative Affairs in Associated Students, Inc., and worked closely with AB 540 undocumented students to pass resolutions in support of in-state tuition. He also interned for the California Faculty Association, CSUEB Chapter and was an advocate for access to public higher education.

Fran previously worked at an immigration firm for 2 years, assisting migrant families in the city of Oakland. He was responsible for conducting initial client screenings, researching country conditions, drafting applications, correspondence and cover letters, motions, preparing and filing documents with the Immigration Court, and served as an interpreter for Asylum and Adjustment of Status interviews.

As an immigrant with Afro-Peruvian and Andean ancestry, Fran understands the barriers and struggles that confront the lives of migrant indigenous families.

Fran’s utmost dedication is in learning and expanding his understanding of Immigration Law. He wants to continue learning the fundamentals of the immigration process to assist the migrant communities in the Bay Area.

Fran enjoys backpacking, camping, playing soccer, playing the guitar, and reading about indigenous resistance movements in Latin America.

Fran is bilingual in English and Spanish.
